The title to this article isn't just misleading, it is a flat-out lie. There will be no loss of student parking spaces. For each one created, one will be reserved for residential parking, which still includes a large number of students.

Anyone who reads it and THINKS will realize that it's saying that the situation will improve, with the same total number of parking spaces, but finally more will be on campus. And finally neighbors won't have to get angry with students squeezing into nonparking spaces, across driveways. And cops won't get to give as many tickets to students squeezing too close to corners and hydrants.

And thousands of the neighbors ARE students, in duplexes and apartment buildings without enough parking spaces, so those students have had to compete on the streets with students who don't live there. Now students who are neighbors, too, will get to count on parking on the neighbors' side of the street -- while the students who don't live there will know that the other side is for them.
